5 Stain Remover Hacks for busy mums

I can never find the time to do all the house work, I set unrealistic goals for my self and get stressed when they’re not done i think this is an area that most busy moms can relate to. We try to find some spare time and improvise, but in the end, as mums we simply want to spend time with our little ones instead of cleaning our home. Fortunately, we live in the era where people can book home cleaners in less than 60 seconds. Hassle.com/ie is the online leading marketplace for cleaning services and claims to find you a trusted, local cleaner with only a few clicks. I was intrigued by this service and wanted to give it a try. It’s so easy to use and you can pick you’re very own cleaner, read their reviews and book for a time that is convenient for you. I found the whole process so simple to use and my cleaner was early, professional and very thorough.

One thing I have learnt since becoming a mother is how to tackle stains. Chocolate Ice cream on a favourite dress or A cup of coffee spilt on a new cream rug. Been there!! Instead of driving myself crazy wiping faces and stripping my kids almost naked when they are eating Spagetti Bolognese I decided to get one up on these stubborn stains and learn instead how to remove them!
Here are my top 5 stain removing tips…
Chocolate
Getting to a stain ASAP is the best way to stop it setting in but that isn’t always possible. If the chocolate has already dried in pour a little milk over the stain and leave for about 10 mins. This will allow the chocolate stain to become active again and you can try and remove it again from an active state. After 10 mins or so run cold water through the stain but not rubbing to hard as this will set it further into the fabric. And don’t use warm water as this will only set the stain. When most of the chocolate has come out was as normal on a cold wash.
Marker on a table
This is so easy!!!! All you need is some hand sanitiser or some rubbing alcohol and some kitchen towel. Pour some onto the marker and leave for a few mins then as easy an anything just wipe away… If it’s a big stain or a little stubborn just repeat the steps again! This also works with marker on clothes!! Wash on a cold wash after!
Marker on Carpet
Use white vinegar. Cover the marker with white vinegar, rinse with cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.. Repeat if necessary!
Tea/Coffee on a Carpet
Again, the sooner you catch this the better. Otherwise you will just have to repeat the steps more than once. If you catch it early soak as much of it up as you can with a towel or paper towels!
Pour a generous amount of baking soda into the stain and with a damp cloth work it into the stain! Rinse it out with cold water. Repeat as needed!
Oil
A really easy way to get oil out of almost anything is to spray hairspray over it, rinse out with cold water and wash on a cold wash afterwards!
This post is in collaboration with hassle.ie, the easiest way to book a cleaner for your home or business! It’s a reliable, safe and extremely professional way of booking a cleaner. Check out their website to find out more!

I received a voucher for hassle.ie in exchange for this collaboration, as always my opinion of their service is my own.

Purcell&Woodcock

Have you heard of Purcell and Woodcock? If not, you’re about to hear it a whole lot more!! If you have, you know exactly why!

Purcell and Woodcock is an Irish company specialising in luxury scented candles and diffusers.
When I got the opportunity to review this stunning range I was a little apprehensive, I am quite a candle connoisseur! And I really know what I like and what I don’t.
I LOVE these.
First and foremost the Frangrances-
The fragrances are devine!!! Gina kindly sent me, a “Floral Fushion” Diffuser. I normally don’t like floral frangrances but this is absolutely stunning. It smells so fresh and clean and really light in the air. I have it in my loo and although the room is quite small the scent is not over powering at all! The diffusers retail at €27-€30

I was also sent a large candle in the scent “SeaSalt and Driftwood” again a beautiful fresh fragrance, perfect for any space in your home/business. This candle retails at €18.

And lastly I received a Mini Spa Candle set.. This is fantastic. And for €20 it makes a really great gift. Inside are four smaller candles in four different frangrances. The only problem is trying to choose which one to use first!! The scents are intoxicating- MidnightPomegranate (my personal favourite) it’s a little darker scent but still very light and not too overpowering! Basil mandarin, Mango Guava and Bamboo Green tea! All light really fresh, very uplifting scents. Scents that I am very confident everyone would love. For the first time ever with a candle company I genuinely love every scent.

Secondly the ingredients, Purcell and Woodcock candles use pure soya wax in their candles and natural frangrances. The use 100% cotton wicks, lead free. Meaning no harsh chemicals in your home especially for me with my little ones! I don’t know if it because of the natural ingredients but the wax doesn’t seem to burn as fast as other candles I have used in the past. They are lasting longer than other candles I’ve used, so far!
I love the packaging and it comes in beautiful expensive looking boxes with a gift bag if you are giving it as a present. But what is really unique and such a beautiful touch is Ginas home advice card. With bits that even after all these years of buying luxury candles I never knew… There are many tips but these two are my favourite..
1. The first time you burn your candle burn it for 2-3 hours, allowing the wax to burn evenly across the surface to the edge of the glass. Frangranced candles develop a burn memory and candles that have not been burnt right to the edges on their initial use will “tunnel” and burn unevenly through the centre of the wax causing wax to be wasted. (I never knew this!!)
2. Do not burn your candle for too long. The maximum a candle should be burnt is 4 hours. If you want to burn for longer trim the wick, let the wax cool and relight.
Gina also gives care advice for her diffuser. Again a unique and clever little add on. My two favourite pieces of advice on Purcell and Woodcock diffusers are.
1. To increase the fragrance throw, turn the reed sticks upside down and reinsert every couple of days! You can turn a few reeds every few days or all the reeds everyday. Keep in mind the more reeds you turn and the more often you turn them the faster the fragrance will evaporate.
2. In smaller spaces, use fewer sticks so that the fragrance isn’t too over powering!
Their Christmas scent is Cinnamon and white Ginger! I just love a Christmas scent in the house when the tree goes up!

Purcell and Woodcock is the perfect gift for almost anybody this Christmas.
Teacher, Lollipop lady, Mum, Sister, Friend. Or even just for yourself. With so many beautiful fragrances you can’t go wrong. I am so impressed with Purcell and Woodcock and I am certain you will be too!

I received Purcell and Woodcock products in exchange for an honest review. As always, my opinion is my own.

My braces Journey- month one!

I had braces a teenager as most people did back then. But slowly but surely I wore my retainer less and less and my teeth began to move back to their original position. My teeth always were a huge insecurity of mine as long as I could remember so in August 2015 I bit the bullet and at 27 got fixed braces, again!!!!

When I was pregnant on my first I had some gum trouble and with my second I had it worse, resulting in a front bottom tooth having a lot of periodontal problems. It has risen above the rest and actually fixed braces were the only solution if I wanted to keep the tooth! So again my journey began. Obviously getting them a second time I wanted the cheapest price, but also the best quality. I have literally priced everywhere in Dublin! And Northern Ireland!!
As most do, I was tempted to go to Newry as prices are extremely competitive but with the exchange rate I decided against it!
I had a few recommendations and did some research into Dr.Declan Ward in Gladnevin Orthodontics.
His prices are extremely competitive and his reviews are excellent. I went for my consultation and knew immediately I wanted to get my treatment in Glasnevin Orthodonticts. Firstly the place itself it’s clinically clean and Dr.Ward is so lovely and very accommodating. I told him exactly what I wanted and he really gave me confidence in helping me achieve it. So here I am.
I opted to get clear on top and because of my periodontal problems on the bottom I have to get metal. When I got the top braces on I was 11 weeks pregnant and very nauseous and again Dr.Ward was really accommodating making sure I was okay and looking after me individually as patient.
I got them on the day before we went away and I was a little apprehensive-pain wise that I would regret that but they were absolutely fine!! For a few days my teeth were a little tender and I did get a few mouth sores just on the ends where the wire was but they’re on 3 weeks now and I can’t even notice them!
Will keep you all updated on my progress with pics too. And any question feel free to mail me!
Lots of love

Household hacks

As a busy mom (or just a busy bee in general?) we all want something to make the day just that little bit easier. So, I thought I would share with you a few little household hacks I have picked up over the last couple of years!
A shelf above the bathroom door!
We have a small bathroom for a house of four! Actually it was a small bathroom even when it was a house of two!! So we have a shelf above the bathroom door to store things we don’t use everyday. It’s great use of space that wouldn’t usually be used. And shelves are really cheap in ikea!
Silver Rods and baskets
Also in the bathroom, and also from ikea silver rods and baskets are also great for storage in a small bathroom!

Binder clips!
Use binder clips to keep your wires or chargers from getting lost down the back of a desk or a dresser. So simple and so neat!

Microwave Cleaner
Microwave water and lemons for 5 mins. Let them steam! And then wipe away a spotless microwave!
Odd socks??
Fear no more.. Use washable mesh bags and get each family member one! Pop the dirty socks into them! Zip it up and into the washing machine! No more lost socks!!
Sweet smelling bathroom!
This is a little trick I started in my salon and now have moved into my home too! Where u have kitchen roll couch roll or toilet till sprinkle a few drops of essential oil on the inside of the roll and there u go a beautiful smelling room until the roll needs replacing! My favourite is lavender or mandarin essential oil!
Thanks so much for reading!
Have a lovely day!

The High Horse?

Hi Guys,
This is my first time blogging so please go easy on me! Ill start of by telling you all just a little bit about myself. I am a 27 year old mother of two and wife to the love of my life. I love social media (as most of us do) and interacting with other moms! My son is 5 and my daughter is 8months. For the past couple of months family and friends have encouraged me to blog, share my experiences and interact with moms the same as me from all over the world. So here I am.
My first blog I feel should be something that is close to my heart at moment (quiet literally!) and something that I do, read about, research and talk about every single day. And that is breastfeeding!
As you get to know me I am sure I will speak more and more about breastfeeding but for now I would like to talk about a topic I have thought about for the past couple of months.

Throughout my breastfeeding journey I have learnt so many things. From scientific facts to personal opinions. And believe me I have heard plenty of those!
Before I breastfed I thought and now believe there is a huge stigma (especially in Ireland) with breastfeeding! Breast feeders are automatically categorised as these eco warrior women that live in the woods in a tent and make there own nappies. Crazy women that have no time for themselves and were deprived of attention as a child so breastfeed theirs as a way of mending that. Women who breastfeed over a certain age are doing it for their own selfish reasons. Unbelievable, untrue, highly ironic and hurtful things and I hear them all most days. Not to me personally most days but other breastfeeding women I talk to or read in the groups I am a member of. Believe me I have heard it all. I met a woman in the supermarket and happen to mention I was ebf and her words were “oh you are one of those mental ones”
Breast feeders are branded “martyrs”, women who think they are better than those who do not breast feed. Every breastfeeding mothers is automatically assumed to be sitting on a high horse waving their finger at a formula feeder.
From my experience I can honestly say I feel it is in fact totally the other way around! It is always the breast feeder that get all the stick, all the insults and all the stigma.
I have never ever heard a breast feeder say to a mother that is formula feeding anything negative about the way they chose to feed their child. It is always the breast feeders from my experience that get all the stick. Dare we mention scientifically breastfeeding is the best form of nutrition for a baby we are bombarded with insults, labels and stigma, 99% of the time from formula feeders!!! I have seen countless amounts of thrashing on social media and it is always the breast feeders that get all the hurtful comments.
I have heard it all.. When will I get my life back, how I’m too close to my baby (is that even possible??) how I could have PND because we co sleep and we don’t give her a bottle, how bad it is that I never get a break and that my baby will become too attached,How a baby can be “too attached” to their mother is also beyond me?!or how I shouldn’t let breastfeeding take over my life. Or the famous are you STILL breastfeeding as if it some sort of craze that women who have lost their minds do for a short period of time, that they will grow out of when they are finished “playing the martyr”.
And believe me nothing good ever comes from a sentence starting with “I know breastfeeding is great and all that….”
But never once have I ever myself nor saw another breast feeding momma say a negative word to a mother that formula feeds. Nothing. I have never seen a mother with a picture of her baby on social media with a bottle in their mouth get comment after comment of abuse for it from any breast feeders. Yet I have heard and seen myself many baby nursing pictures get removed from facebook after a bombarding of negative comments.
So for me its so ironic, I think is the formula feeders doing the most finger wagging!
